This poster represents a whole community. More than just a language, American Sign Language brings people together and is part of a deep and beautiful culture. That is represented in this project with the careful selection of words that create the piece. The red, white, and blue color scheme tie into the American aspect of ASL, but also function as a subtle nod to France, since ASL is largely based on French Sign Language. 

The hand intentionally is not forming any sign, as I wanted the hand to speak on its own, without any signs getting in the way of the message. The wrist of the hand looks as though its been cut off. That choice was made to show that even though the Deaf people might be separated, segregated, or ostracized, they still have deep roots and value in their community.
